The short answer: the New Balance Made in USA 990v7 releases in its launch "Kool Grey" colorway (style code U990GR7) on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET for $200, according to Gear Patrol and Complex. It is the first new version of the 990 since the 990v6 in 2022.
What is new
The 990v7 keeps the 990's mix of mesh and pigskin suede but adds tumbled leather on the tongue and heel tab, a first for the series, Gear Patrol reports. Underfoot, it pairs a dual-density, full-length FuelCell midsole with Encap and CR technologies in the heel, plus a new TPU shank for midfoot stability. New Balance says this FuelCell formulation is softer than the foam in the 990v6. The launch pair is grey with a pale yellow midsole and light blue accents. "It had to feel iconic, but also unmistakably new," New Balance creative design manager Jean Khalife told Gear Patrol.

Where to buy
Complex says the 990v7 will be sold at NewBalance.com and select New Balance stockists worldwide, with more colorways expected later. The Just Drops release page lists the big kids' version of U990GR7 at $199.99 for November 6, with a raffle at one store and first-come sales at several others. Sneaker News calls November 6 "the main event" of this week's calendar because of the 990v7.
Watch the price on raffle pages
Some early raffle listings have shown a higher number than the $200 retail price reported by Gear Patrol and Complex, so check the price on the checkout page before you enter or pay. As with any Made in USA model, New Balance says at least 70 percent of the shoe's value is domestic, per Gear Patrol.
A short history
The first 990 launched in 1982 as the first sneaker to retail for $100, which is about $349 today adjusted for inflation, Complex notes. New Balance began teasing the 990v7 in September with a billboard in New York City. See the rest of this week's drops in our November 1 to 7 release roundup and the filterable release calendar.
